Ph.D. Program And Details for Entrance Test
Admissions to Ph.D. program batch July 2025 of Major S.D. Singh University will be made strictly according to the UGC guidelines for NET, GATE & other equivalent test qualified candidates with valid score. The vacant seats shall be filled as per merit and availability of seats through Entrance Test followed by Interview in accordance of Ph.D. Ordinance of Major S.D. Singh University, available on its website.
Applications are invited on prescribed application form only, which can be filled online or by downloading application format and deposited in the university office after filling along with entrance fee Rs.2000/- online paid in given account number of the university.

Note:
- Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. degree in Major S.D. Singh University.
- Candidates with valid NET / GATE / SET / UET scores and any other equivalent test conducted by GOI accredited agency (to be decided by the selection committee) are exempted from entrance test but have to appear for interview. M.Phil. degree holders from UGC accredited universities are also exempted from entrance test but have to appear for interview.
- Clearing offline Examination of Major S.D. Singh University followed by interview for the vacancies not filled by the NET, GATE & other equivalent examination qualified candidates. However, a candidate must have cleared post-graduate (PG) degree or equivalent as per UGC norms from a UGC recognized Indian / foreign university in respective discipline with score of minimum 55% or equivalent CGPA. A 5% relaxation in score for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates i.e., minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA is allowed in PG degree or equivalent (as per UGC norms).
- The offline Entrance test will have 100 MCQ (50 % MCQ on Core Subject and 50% MCQ on Research Aptitude) to evaluate knowledge in core subject and research aptitude; Entrance test will be followed by interview for 30 marks. Thus, the candidates shall be selected on the basis of their performance in written test and interview. Those exempted from written test shall be interviewed for 100 marks and selected accordingly.
- Syllabi of the core subjects are of PG level/equivalent in respective disciplines / subjects.
- Number of seats in different departments will depend on the availability of eligible supervisors at the time of admission.
- Entrance test and interview for the admission to Ph.D. program shall be conducted in offline mode however, classes for full time' and part time scholars shall be conducted in physical and blended mode, respectively.
- The university reserves all the rights to increase, decrease or nullify the available Ph.D. vacancies and also to postpone/cancel the candidature of Ph.D. aspirants without assigning any reason.
