Guardian Club

Introduction

The Guardian Club (Adult Health Nursing) of Major S.D. Singh University is an academic and clinical initiative of the Department of Nursing dedicated to promoting safe, competent, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing care for adult patients.

The Club is committed to strengthening students’ knowledge and clinical skills in Adult Health Nursing through a variety of activities including clinical skill development sessions, case discussions, health awareness programmes, patient-safety initiatives, demonstrations of nursing procedures, and community outreach.

Under the guidance of nursing faculty, the Guardian Club organizes and coordinates programmes designed to enhance clinical competency, promote adult patient safety, encourage disease prevention and health promotion, and uphold standards of quality nursing care. The Club also supports the continuous professional development of nursing students, fostering leadership and a commitment to evidence-based nursing practice.

Objectives of the Club

The Herbal Garden Club shall work towards the following objectives:

    Promote Patient Safety

    Create awareness among nursing students regarding patient safety, safe nursing practices, prevention of errors, and maintenance of a safe care environment for adult patients.

    Develop Clinical Competency

    Strengthen students' knowledge and practical skills in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for adult patients.

  • ✓
    Promote Quality Nursing Care

    Encourage students to provide evidence-based, ethical, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing care to individuals with acute and chronic health conditions.

  • ✓
    Strengthen Emergency Preparedness

    Organize demonstrations and training activities related to first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), emergency care, disaster preparedness, and management of critically ill patients.

    Promote Infection Prevention and Control

    Develop awareness and competency regarding hand hygiene, standard precautions, PPE, aseptic techniques, biomedical waste management, and prevention of healthcare-associated infections.

    Encourage Early Identification of Health Problems

    Develop students' ability to identify signs and symptoms, risk factors, complications, and early warning signs of common adult health disorders.

    Promote Health Education and Disease Prevention

    Organize health-education programmes related to lifestyle modification, nutrition, exercise, medication adherence, prevention of chronic diseases, and maintenance of healthy living.

    Develop Clinical Decision-Making Skills

    Provide opportunities for case discussions, clinical scenarios, problem-solving activities, and case presentations to improve critical thinking and clinical decision-making.

    Promote Safe Medication Practices

    Create awareness regarding medication administration, correct patient identification, dosage calculation, adverse drug reactions, medication errors, and safe handling of medicines.

    Encourage Academic and Clinical Excellence

    Organize seminars, workshops, clinical demonstrations, OSCE practice, quizzes, poster competitions, case presentations, and other academic activities to enhance students' knowledge and clinical competence.

    Promote Evidence-Based Nursing Practice

    Encourage students to use current nursing knowledge, clinical guidelines, research findings, and evidence-based approaches in adult patient care.

As the Faculty Coordinator of the Guardian Club (Adult Health Nursing), Mrs. Harshita Singh provides academic leadership and clinical guidance to nursing students, facilitating structured learning experiences that integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical practice.

Her professional focus encompasses patient safety, evidence-based nursing practice, clinical skill development, critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and holistic patient-centred care. Through the Guardian Club, she promotes Skill-Based Learning, Health-Awareness Initiatives, and Community-Oriented Activities, Fostering a Culture of Professionalism, Accountability, Compassion, and Continuous Learning among future nursing professionals.
